Durham Ferry is a 209-acre park with a working farm, nature trails, animal habitats and visitors’ center. A combination of classroom instruction and field study provide students with a rich foundation that supports standards-based instruction in core curricular areas.

Durham Ferry Middle School is an academy option for students in grades 6 through 8.  Much of the curriculum is thematic and developed around the environment, literature, and history.

Students receive direct instruction in the core subjects and have the opportunity to apply newly acquired skills and knowledge in the “living laboratory” around them.

Students may be involved with a wide range of projects, from water quality field work to indigenous plant identification. Most students have the opportunity to work with and ride horses.
