We have recently streamlined our process. Please note the steps below.
Step 1. ORIENTATION ATTENDANCE & ENROLLMENT PACKET - Parent/Guardian and student must bring a completed enrollment packet to an orientation. Orientation's are designed to provide information about Venture's philosophy, educational objectives, and our many programs. Attendance at Orientation is mandatory. Parents/guardians will receive detailed information about the school, the philosophy, the educational objectives, program options and the staff. Sign up for an invitation to our next Orientation below or call our main office at 209.468.5940. This will reserve a place for the parent and student at the next mandatory orientation. Note: Venture Academy does not accept students who are on expulsion from their current school. ONLINE ORIENTATION FOR ENROLLMENT SIGN UP by clicking here! You will be contacted with the date and time of the next orientation. Step 2. ENROLLMENT PACKET - All parents/guardians are asked to bring a completed packet and documents listed below to the orientation. Once school begins, students are assessed in reading, writing, and math to confirm correct grade-level placement. Please fill out all of the enrollment forms prior to the orientation and bring them with you to the orientation. You may download them by clicking here! You may also come to our main site at 2829 Transworld Drive, Stockton and pick up an enrollment packet prior to orientation attendance. Step 3. EVALUATION FOR ENROLLMENT. Staff will evaluate student records for completeness and academics. Enrollment will be delayed if items are missing. Most academies require an interview for acceptance. PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING TO COMPLETE ENROLLMENT
If the packet is complete, families are free to leave and will be notified within two to three weeks regarding enrollment. It is expected that all information provided on the registration forms is accurate and complete. Intentional failure to provide complete and accurate information will result in dismissal from Venture Academy. The student is not enrolled until official notification is received through the mail. It is important that students remain enrolled in their neighborhood schools until the notification is received and enrollment is confirmed. Priority is given to returning students in good standing, siblings, and children of employees of SJCOE. •The Lottery - Venture Academy’s Advisory Site Council is responsible for executing the lottery. If necessary, voting members of the Council will be called in for a special meeting to conduct a lottery. A quorum is needed to oversee the drawing of the names and the subsequent assignment of students. A lottery becomes necessary when one of the “programs of choice” is full and/or there are more requests for enrollment than space available. All names of students requesting a program that is full will be placed into a box. All names will be pulled and numbered. The placements into the program will be made in numerical order until all openings are filled. The remaining numbered students will be placed, in numerical order, on a waiting list and will be notified of openings as they arise. |
