Below is the latest information available regarding respiratory illnesses reported to San Joaquin County Public Health Services (as of January 12, 2019):
OVERVIEW
  • The overall percentage of influenza detections in sentinel clinical laboratories is starting to increase in January (Figure 1).
  • Three confirmed deaths (all ages) this flu season compared to eleven during the same time period last flu season (Table 1).
  • The majority of influenza positive specimens this season are Influenza A/H1N1(Figure 2) - a component of this year’s vaccine.

HEALTH CONNECTED CURRICULUM TO MEET CA HEALTHY YOUTH ACT

(ENACTED 1/2016) 

We are excited to share that Venture students will have the opportunity to participate in Puberty Talk (5th grade), Teen Talk Middle School (7th or 8th), and Teen Talk High School (once in high school). This curriculum complies with California Education Code sections 51930-51939 and meets the California Health Education Content Standards for "Growth, Development and Sexual Health." MEDICATIONS IN SCHOOL

For students who have a chronic health condition that requires them to take medication during the regular school day, please obtain physician written authorization and parent/guardian consent (i.e. Neosporin, aspirin, albuterol, epinephrine, etc.). This authorization along with the medication must be presented by an adult to the school nurse and/or academy site technician annually. (California Education Code #33308.5, 49400 and 49423) See California Department of Education Program Advisory on Medication Administration, May, 2005 for full details.
