High school students may participate in a home study path that supports the home school environment. Home study is enhanced by offering a menu of onsite classes.

Home Study is offered at the school’s main site in Stockton and at Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center south of Manteca. When choosing this pathway, parents become team teachers with Venture Academy. The credentialed teachers who make up this team provide an

individualized academic plan, curriculum, materials and supplies and educational assessment of student work.  Parents augment this education plan with home and community projects and are encouraged to use the world as their classroom.

Students and a parent/guardian are required, in addition to any mandatory classes, to attend meetings scheduled with the teacher of record a minimum of once a month and as often as the teacher believes is necessary.  During these meetings all work completed is reviewed.  Teachers will assess student progress in a variety of ways including oral presentation, teacher made tests/quizzes, project presentation,  and/or demonstration of skills.  After assessment, the teacher, student, and parent set out a plan for the next month.
