MEDICATIONS IN SCHOOL For students who have a chronic health condition that requires them to take medication during the regular school day, with or without assistance, please obtain physician written authorization and parent/guardian consent. This applies for all prescription and over-the-counter treatment options (i.e. Neosporin, aspirin, albuterol, epinephrine, etc.). Treatment must be as prescribed by a CA licensed MD/DO. The correct authorizations along with the medication must be presented by an adult to the school nurse and/or academy site technician annually. (California Education Code #33308.5, 49400 and 49423) We appreciate your assistance in obtaining the proper authorizations as without them, medication(s) CANNOT be taken or administered to your student at school for safety reasons. See California Department of Education Program Advisory on Medication Administration, May, 2005 for full details (below). For your convenience, our school forms can be downloaded from the PICTURE AND BUTTON to the left. Please contact our school office or the school nurse for any questions or concerns. |
