College Resources
It is important that you start early in choosing the classes and activities you need for your individual path.
While you are in charge of your own educational path and are responsible for letting your teacher of record know what
courses you need to meet your goals, the counselors at Venture Academy are here to assist you with the process. We encourage
you to research the college or vocational program that interests you so that you get the most correct information on their
eligibility requirements. There is no one formula that guarantees admission to every college or program after high school.
If you would like assistance, please contact a counselor or the counseling center to schedule an appointment.

Community Colleges
Community colleges offer associate's degrees and/or certificate programs. There are no required high school courses you need to take in order to apply to a community college. You do not need to take the ACT or SAT. You will take a placement test after you apply which will determine which college English and math courses you can take, so it is suggested that you take rigorous courses in high school to prepare you for the placement test. You can transfer to a CSU, UC, or private college from a community college.

CSU
Entering a 4-year university straight out of high school is increasingly competitive. The earlier you start planning, the better. In order to apply to a CSU or UC, you must successfully complete ("C" or better) a series of high school courses that are certified as A-G. The A-G course sequence is available at the links below titled "Freshman Applicant Requirements." In addition, you must take the SAT or ACT.
*Not all of Venture Academy's programs offer all these A-G courses. Please make an appointment with your teacher of record and a counselor if you know you want to attend a 4-year university right out of high school.
